We will be performing an upgrade to the email server on Tuesday September 20th, beginning at 12:01AM CST. Email service WILL be available during this upgrade, however if you use Webmail or IMAP services your mailbox may not show all of your email until the migration is complete, which we expect to take 6 to 8 hours.
There are several significant configuration changes.
THESE CHANGES WILL RESULT IN ERRORS IN YOUR EMAIL CLIENT SOFTWARE.
Webmail users will not receive these errors.
You’ll receive authentication errors, due to enhancements in the security protocols implemented on the server. To fix these errors for both incoming and outgoing mail, open the ‘Account Settings’ for your email account and do one or both of:
- Enable “Secure Password Authentication”
- Enable “SSL”
For outgoing mail, also enable “My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication”.
If, after enabling these features you still receive errors; your mail client may have problems with ‘Secure Password Authentication’ and you should try enabling SSL and disabling SPA. If that doesn’t fix the issue, please contact our support staff at 888-332-1616 for assistance.
If you have any questions, please contact our support staff at 888-332-1616, between 8am and 8pm Monday through Friday, or 10am to 7pm Saturday & Sunday.
We will be emailing this notification DAILY until the migration has been completed. We apologize for sending you a lot of mail but email service is very important, and we need to make sure to communicate these changes so that everybody will see them!
REMEMBER – Valnet will NEVER ask for your password in an email!
You should NEVER reply to an email claiming to be from Valnet that asks for your password!
